About the SRA
Somerset Rivers Authority (SRA) is a partnership, launched in January 2015 after the devastating floods of 2013-14. Our partners are Somerset Council, the Parrett and Axe Brue Internal Drainage Boards (IDBs), the Environment Agency, Natural England, the Wessex Regional Flood & Coastal Committee and Wessex Water.
SRA membership enables our partners to go above and beyond what they usually do, and do extra work on local priorities.
We work together as the SRA to reduce the risks and impacts of flooding across Somerset.
We get around £3million a year through council tax. The IDBs give another £20,000.
We've drafted a new strategy to shape how we spend this money across Somerset.
We want to know what you think of it.
About this website and you
Nowhere in Somerset is more than a few miles from somewhere that has flooded. Everybody in the county is affected by flooding in some way.
This is your chance to have your say about what kinds of things the SRA should be doing over the next 10 years, and how it should go about doing them.
We also want to hear from you about places in Somerset where you know there are problems with flooding. This will help us to draw up localised plans for river catchments that will directly or indirectly benefit you.
Sections 1 and 2 give you some important background details about the SRA and Somerset. In Sections 3 to 6 you can give answers, make comments, and highlight issues on maps. Please respond by 14 January 2024.
Your contributions will help to make communities and places across Somerset safer, stronger, better. Thank you for taking part.
